If you take a look at the album cover for Bruce Springsteen’s “Born To Run” you will notice Bruce leaning on a shoulder…That was the shoulder of the late Clarence Clemons-The BIG MAN. Clarence was the oaken staff that Bruce leaned on for years. Springsteen’s oft-told story of his initial meeting with Clemons felt biblical: With a lightning storm raging outside, the Big Man tore the door off an Asbury Park club, strode onstage, and made magic. From his signature sax playing on Springsteen classics to his enthusiastic percussion and background singing, Clemons truly reveled in the making of music and the joy that music could create.
Just as he was part of the glue that held together Springteen’s sound, Clemons sat in on all varieties of popular music which you can find on this playlist. He even took time to front his own band, TEMPLE OF SOUL.
